History

Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, serves the University of Oklahoma community and the greater Norman metropolitan area with a championship private golf experience in the heart of Cleveland County. The club provides private golf and social amenities to a membership drawn from the university community, the Norman professional and business class, and the south Oklahoma City metropolitan area residents who value a private alternative to the public courses of the region. The Norman setting places Belmar within one of Oklahoma's most dynamic and intellectually engaged communities, where the University of Oklahoma's 30,000-plus students, faculty, and staff create a city of unusual educational depth and cultural breadth for a mid-sized Oklahoma community.

The club serves the professional and business leadership of a city that has grown substantially from its origins as a university town into a full-service metropolitan community with healthcare, technology, and the diverse commercial base of a prosperous southern plains city. The course plays through the rolling terrain of the Oklahoma cross-timbers region, where the transition between the open prairie of western Oklahoma and the wooded eastern portions of the state creates a landscape of mixed grassland and post oak woodland character. This natural character provides Belmar with the visual interest and ecological diversity that distinguish courses in the transitional terrain of central Oklahoma.

Belmar Golf Club has hosted Oklahoma Golf Association events and competitive play that have established it as a quality competitive venue in the Norman and Cleveland County private golf community. The club serves members who appreciate both the quality of the golf experience and the social amenities of a private institution that provides an alternative to the more formal downtown clubs of Oklahoma City. Today Belmar Golf Club continues to serve the Norman community as a valued private golf institution, combining championship golf with the social amenities of a club that honors the university tradition and professional character of one of Oklahoma's most intellectually vibrant cities.
