History
Discovery Land Company unveiled Atlantic Fields in Hobe Sound, Florida, as a 1,500-acre private residential golf community in Martin County, approximately 30 minutes north of Palm Beach International Airport. The development occupies land that was formerly an orange grove, and it shares an entrance with Michael Jordan's Grove XXIII while bordering Atlantic Ridge State Park to the west. Discovery Land Company, founded in 1994, has developed more than 35 private residential club communities globally, including Gozzer Ranch Golf and Lake Club in Idaho, Baker's Bay Golf and Ocean Club in the Bahamas, The Madison Club in California, and Yellowstone Club in Montana, among others. Tom Fazio was selected to design the championship 18-hole golf course, which opened in 2025. The layout takes advantage of the flat coastal terrain of southeastern Florida, with Fazio introducing subtle elevation changes and enhancing the natural topography to create a sense of depth and variety across the course. The design incorporates the property's existing lake and canal systems as natural water features, while strategic bunkering and undulating green complexes demand accurate shot-making from all tee positions. The routing winds through a landscape of native palms, tropical flora, and carefully planted Old Florida vegetation, creating an atmosphere that reflects Hobe Sound's heritage. In addition to the championship course, Atlantic Fields features The Pineapple Express, an innovative 10-hole short course with 37 tee boxes and 15 greens, offering more than 120 possible routing combinations. This design allows golfers to create a different experience each time they play, serving both as a casual option and a serious skill-development facility.
