Atkinson Resort & Country Club is an 18-hole resort course in Atkinson, New Hampshire designed by The Lewis Group and opened with nine holes in 1996, with the back nine completing the full layout in 1998. Playing to 6,534 yards from the championship markers with a slope of 140, it is a challenging public-access resort course in New England, featuring bentgrass throughout and a well-regarded teaching academy. The resort also features a separate nine-hole par-3 course for shorter play.

History

Atkinson Resort & Country Club was developed in the 1990s as a full-service golf resort in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, designed by The Lewis Group and opened progressively — nine holes in 1996, the full 18-hole championship course completed by 1998. The resort sits in the rolling terrain of southeastern New Hampshire, close to the Massachusetts border, and serves a market of golfers from both the Merrimack Valley and the Boston metropolitan area who seek resort-quality golf without traveling far from the region's population centers. The championship course plays to 6,534 yards from the back tees with a par of 72, a course rating of 72.7, and a slope of 140 — a rating that places it firmly in the upper tier of New Hampshire resort courses for difficulty.

Bentgrass greens and fairways provide the premium playing surfaces typical of courses targeting a resort audience, and the routing takes advantage of the New Hampshire landscape's rolling, wooded character to create visual variety from hole to hole. The Willowcreek Golf Academy, launched in 2009, added a formal instruction dimension to Atkinson's offerings, with PGA-certified teaching professionals providing lessons, clinics, and structured improvement programs. The academy has attracted corporate groups and individual players from across the region and reinforced Atkinson's positioning as a comprehensive golf destination rather than simply a place to play.

The property also features a nine-hole par-3 course, allowing shorter, faster rounds for families, beginners, or guests who want to warm up or wind down without committing to a full 18-hole experience. This complementary layout increases the facility's appeal as a resort property and reflects a thoughtful approach to accommodating the full range of golf participation levels. Dining, event, and lodging facilities round out the resort experience, making Atkinson a destination for weddings, corporate outings, and extended golf stays as well as day play.
